What is Orthodontics?

Orthodontics is the part of dentistry that deals with the treatment of the bad position of the teeth.

Orthodontic treatment is light and gradually move teeth by means of fixed appliances (metal braces or aesthetic) to correct dental malpositions very little influence on the development of the jaws and thus bring to an ideal position, with the aim of achieving function and aesthetics with the same teeth.


Why is it important?

If the upper and lower teeth do not meet properly can cause problems in the jaw joint. This badly affects the aesthetic position. On the other hand some misplaced teeth are more susceptible to being affected by caries and periodontal disease (gum) and hygiene is much more difficult.

By having a proper bite teeth they do not wear or weaken that inadequate forces. Also it allows for a good chewing function helping your digestion.
